Quinta is recovering (4).

Tuesday — we thought Quinta would be able to come home today, but the site of his surgery wound is still a bit swollen and he continues to be anemic, although he is eating well. The doctor wants to keep Quinta in the animal hospital for a couple more days, so we now hope to bring Quinta home around Thursday. If we do, Quinta will have been in the hospital for exactly one week, which is what the doctor told us would be likely when Quinta went in for surgery. Quinta seems to be getting stronger by the day and his expressions are livlier (no more grogginess from pain medication).

When Quinta sits up or stands, he balances his front leg towards the center of his body to steady himself. He seems to be getting slowly used to being a “tripawd”.

Now, if only Quinta can come home!

  1. Look at that face!! Look at that face!! Such a handsome, gentle soul!! Taking a trans-Atlantic flight over just so I can kiss that sweet mig!!

His sitting position is adorable! He’s figuring things out quickly!

Did the vet say what was causing the anemia? Are they giving him anything for it?

Also, didmyou say he is off ALL pain meds or is he still on so e tramadol? “Over here” they usually have dogs on some dose of tramdol and rimadyl for two weeks—“usually”. I’m no vet–that just seemed a little soon after such a major surgery.

He does look like he’s feeling better!! What was his treat today! I don’t think he’s had strawberries or blackberries yet!!

You tell Quinta if they don’t let him out by Thursday, all the tripawds are coming over to picket the place!! Free Quinta!! Iknow you said they keep them longer over there…….they sure do!

Glad he’s eating and looking better!! Keep those updates a d wonderful ohotos coming!! His “ssitting” position is so precius! You hang in there Mom! You both are doing great:-)

  2. Hey Quinta, sorry you can’t come home yet but boy do you look GREAT! I say better safe than sorry, I wish more vets here in the U.S. would be so cautious.

Rest up buddy, you’ll have plenty of time for fun when you are feeling good again.
